The Artist Freelance Visa falls under the Freelance Visa, and is offered only to artists from non-EU/EEA countries, who are planning to reside in Berlin, and not other cities of Germany. It is typically granted for three months. It can be converted into a residence permit while your visa is valid. The resident permit can be upto 3 years.
If applicable after 3 years., you may apply for a settlement permit. Your profession has to be related to “art” or journalism and your freelance activity should be registered at the tax office in Germany.
NOTE: Citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, United States of America and South Korea can apply for a freelance visa upon their arrival in Germany.
